IOW, it's *intrinsically* there, whether you "know" it, or not.
2. if you've never encountered them, the 2 books by John Truby are *gold*.
There are minor problems, like him having this bizarre American concept that "village" means Wild West village, when *real* village means Tribal Village, pre-agriculture & post agriculture, but it is simply sooo much worth & understandings crammed into his books...
( I've read the Genres one, have to get the Story one, next )
3. if you ever want to *hone* your work to its peak, then Coyne's "The Story Grid" is the editing book of all editing books.
