The whole biological mechanism though, if it functions as described, is very anti-monogamy. And I don’t think humans were particular monogamous in tribal times
Some hunter/gatherer societies: women shared the most fit men, then the eldest brother would serve as provider. After all, elder brother has similar gene sharing with child as a husband would
