Red handfish taken into captivity to protect them from severe marine heatwave in southern Tasmania
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-01-31/tas-red-handfish-collected-into-captivity/103407604> There are fewer than 100 red handfish left in the wild. As a severe marine heatwave threatens their last remaining habitat, researchers say they had to take drastic action.
>Researchers hope to release them back into the wild before winter, once the threat from the marine heatwave has passed.

I like thier optimism, when the threat has passed ? Surely that won't be this century, so this seems like another kick the can down the road thing . I see in the article pollution from run off is anothet issue for the fish, just yesterday an article on microplatics and toxins from car tyres being a huge issue for marine organisms.
https://phys.org/news/2024-01-microparticles-road-high-pollutants.htmlThere isnt a state in Australia more car centric then Tasmania.
Another "don't address the problem" 1/2 ass'd solution.
