I don't understand the Mastodon opposition to reply-limiting. Your non-algorithm feed is limited to show you only what people you follow say or boost. Why not extend the principle to replies?
Allowing everyone to throw their 2c of opinion at you is basically making your replies fedi feed-level unmanageable.
I keep talking about the problems of scale.
I stopped mentioning my birthday online years ago because I didn't want to spend an hour or more of that day acknowledging comments from people I didn't know. They had the kindest intentions and I didn't want to offend them by not responding.
This is how shit like this actually works.
