As much as I still have white privilege, I was never fooled into thinking I had common cause with other white people, especially the ones with money. It wasn't the "greed is good" era for nothing, you know.

I saw the way "respectable" white people talked about minorities, the way men talked about women, the way straights talked about queers, when they thought they were in "good" company.

I have never trusted them.
