Today is Heritage Day in South Africa. It's a day where we acknowledge everyone's heritage, from the settlers and colonialists to the natives and anyone who lives here, foreigner or not. Languages, culture, history - it's all remembered today. Who you are, and your heritage.

Everyone is encouraged to wear their traditional attire - or even someone else's attire (we don't bother with cultural appropriation especially when it's in admiration of another) obviously no one is black or white facing, cause that's just silly when you can wear an Afro or a hat or a sari or necklace and be yourself underneath.

It's the only day that I look forward going to the shops because all the cashiers/staff dress up, and it's so colourful and diverse.
