Have you considered an aromatic path? I did one in my garden once and it's fantastic. Plant thyme and oregano etc and let it overgrow. Once well bedded in, use it as a path to walk down. I had various things to harvest either side so would walk down every couple of weeks without a care for where I was stepping. The fragrance was amazing. Had some lavender there as well for pollinators. Just a thought
