The oddest part of the "stuck in someplace he ought not be" theory is: why the camera? Apart from being there to film the raccoon, why would a camera be in a box like that?
I suspect it's a trap of some sort. My hope is that it was just somebody's pet and they took a few moments of cute footage, instead of leaving a poor critter stuck in a trap intentionally.
