We’re even the same age, and had the same experiences in 1996. I too was spat-on, for being Chinese. His recounting reminded me of the expression on the girl’s face before she spat on me. The bewilderment I had felt. I’d had NOTHING against her at all. Yet, my mere existence in the same grade as her made her redfaced with rage. She spat on my face.
