The developer, themselves, has mention how much of a burden it has been maintaining two separate developments of uBlock Origin. And in previous days, the development has implied the possibility of maintain only one edition of uBlock, citing even user-usage (more people use Chromium).
If you think that original uBlock Origin for Firefox is absolutely guaranteed, I would think again. There is enough said to easily understand that this 1 guy, who works so tirelessly for free and up against a multi-trillion dollar advertising industry, is looking to simplify their life, and I cannot say I blame them.
