Another trap word is "just".
If I had just done (X), maybe I wouldn't have had (bad thing happen).
Where X is something that seems simple, but is difficult and most people don't actually accomplish. There's really no need to feel bad about it. It won't help. And if X was actually easy, you probably would have done it (or didn't know how important it was, etc.)
