There's a coffee place not terribly far from me called "Kelly Latte's" that has been around since I was a kid.

I went there yesterday, there was no one behind me in line, and I was talking to the barista, so I finally found my opportunity to ask the question I've always had about that place for 15+ years.

I asked, "so, is the name Kelly Latte's because it's insinuating that the owner's last name is Latte?"

They were like, "what?"

So I said, "Well, it's not Kelly's Latté, meaning that Kelly owns the establishment that makes lattés, and it's not Kelly Lattés as in Kelly makes the Lattés. It's Kelly Latte's, possesive, indicating that the woman who owns the business is named Kelly Latte, like her last name is Latté."

The barista paused for a moment and said, "I mean, there was a Kelly. Her name wasn't Latte. She lost the company in her divorce. The owner's name is Chad, he's a really nice guy."

That didn't address my grammatical concern, but it was juicy gossip, so I will take it.
