I am supposed to visit my biological father today, and help him re-setup his Roku. Somehow he killed the remote, and so I ordered him a new remote. I got him the Pro Edition so it could be charged, and he wouldn't keep opening it up to check the batteries.
The problem is my biological father is an asshole. He is a bipolar, narcissistic, pathological lair, who also is a "know it all". The fact that he lies and makes things up, does not help you easily figure out if he is lying or imagining things. I also dislike his indecisiveness, and he can seldom make up his own damn mind.
Tonight, the day before I am to visit, he calls me up talking about how he is convinced that putting the Roku on the "wrong" HDMI port could break his TV. It obviously will not, and there is nothing wrong with his TV. Although I do suspect that the "cable guy" has convinced him otherwise, plus I suspect he may not be 100% wanting to give up his cable TV either (which he does NOT pay for). The Roku is going onto HDMI-1 and his cable box is being pulled. He will additionally also have an HD TV Antenna (that will be HDMI-2).
But experiencing him act like he knows better or some random "cable guy" knows better, when I am the one who has done this 100x and I know the technology, is infuriating. Especially, since I keep spending money on trying to make it so he will have a TV, and am I going to his place on my day off. I could think of other things I'd rather be doing and things I'd rather be buying.
