#Russia had fired RS-26 “Rubezh” ICMB at #Ukraine #Dnipro today which had been received as a “nuclear warning”, because the rocket could “potential carry” a nuclear warhead.
But I don’t think it was the primary objective of the demonstration - one thing that is widely ignored by the Western audience is the sentiments inside Russia. And these are not good, to put that lightly - in the eyes of Russian military hawks, Russia only humiliates itself by voicing horrible threats of what happens when “red lines” are crossed but doing nothing in response. As a reminder, the first “red lines” in 2022 that, in Kremlin’s words, justified nuclear response, were supplies of tanks or aircrafts to Ukraine. Since then, the list of toothless threats only grew.
As it comes to “warnings”, Russia had been pounding Ukraine for three years with Kh-101 missiles, which were also designed to “potentially” carry a thermonuclear warhead.
