“copper country strong” collage inspired by “the ship we built,” and the ways in which rust belt communities rely on the nostalgia of what once made them strong, powerful, or at least worth looking at by people in power.
but also very much on my mind with the republican party (and politicians as a whole) doing the most to take advantage of people so desperate for a second chance at something. my homestates are swing-states for a reason; as the dang dad in “ship” says, the rust belt is “just a themepark for other places.”
