My advise is to have patience. I've been on Mastodon for a few years now, two years with this account, and my follow count is still a fraction of what it was on Twitter. The reason I keep active is because I see it as an investment to a social circle that'll work for decades to come, whereas I have no such hopes for Twitter/X that'll probably die within a few years.

Second, engage with others. There's no algorithm where people will be guided to you. So, you go to the people. Share your stuff but don't be too pushy about it.
