Sandboxed Google Play are regular apps with no special access. Many people choose to use a dedicated work profile, Private Space or secondary user for their mainstream apps depending on Google Play but others don't. Putting it all into the main profile (Owner) is fine and they're still sandboxed. The downside of doing it that way is you give up the ability to choose which apps are going to see and use Google Play services. It does not defeat the point of using GrapheneOS at all.
