You don't though. Phones and laptops haven't gotten appreciably better in terms of capability in the past decade. The ghz is not making big strides, improvements are not giving us additional functionality or speed for most use cases. Most of time, the problem is the life of the battery, the cracked screen, or the dozen pieces of malware the user has downloaded onto the machine, or their Windows OS reaching end-of-life are the real reason for replacement. A 10 year old machine or phone can still easily handle what 90% of people use their computers or phones for (a zillion open tabs, some google sheets, their gmail page, etc).
