It feels like his age and maturity and experiences---all of which the fan/viewer is aware---plays into how the viewer experiences the film. I do wonder however if someone who was not as familiar with his work and/or not even just a little bit of a fan would enjoy this as much. It's not just all the references, but the spirit and sort of tongue-in-cheek self-critique and self-conscious commentary.",
