The on-line Guix manual has code snippets where identifiers are hyperlinks to make it easier to discover the Guile doc—e.g., there’s a link under ‘string-append’. I guess it’s a different experience because here in Guix you’re looking at a full-blown language.
Re compilation toolchains, ‘--with-c-toolchain’ is meant to help with this use case; for more complex needs, one has to look at the Scheme API.
