But I don't think that the fediverse is done. Other platforms do have some interesting ideas that should be quick to prototype and adapt (think Bluesky's Starter Packs among many other things). New ideas should be simpler to test (in smaller communities). Mastodon can't be that.
Think of Mastodon like a big container vessel. It takes a long time to change course and it's kinda locked into what it is by dependencies. I think right now a few speedboats would be helpful.
