I found a house centipede and the doorman helped me rescue it since if the wrong person saw it just strolling around the hall it might have gotten squashed. It's was the biggest one I've ever seen in NYC. And elegant being! I found a warm place near the building where it might be OK for a few more months into fall.
When he came around and saw me struggling with a drink cup and the bug I was worried I'd need to explain but he told me "Those are good, they're predators they eat roaches."
