The west is not acknowledging the significance of what Ukraine managed to do by the counteroffensive into Kursk. They made Putin panic, and break any remaining system of checks & balances in the Russian system.
Russians will see it clear as day, that all power is now in the hands of former KGB. Total, absolute power.
