definitely controversial! The exorbitant cost is the biggest blocker, closely followed by the lack of trains (long distance or otherwise, since you need to be able to get to the long distance train in the first place), in my opinion.

Pendolinos have other issues too, such as the nausea inducing tilt and the smell. Although I admit the cramped seating is a big problem on all UK trains except GWR and the East Coast service.
