I love driving in Portugal, it’s WAY more fun.
In North America, driving is dangerous because people tune out from boredom. The roads are straight and wide, and the landscape lulls you into a false sense of safety.
In Portugal, driving is dangerous because life itself is uncaring and unpredictable: at any moment you may have to come to a halt, make a hairpin turn or dodge the unexpected.
You have to use all of your reflexes & be totally immersed. Never a dull moment.
