has it ever occurred to you that flash card memory cells are very much *like* the battery backed ram of old NES and gameboy cartridges? the main difference is they replace the single watch battery with many many miniaturised silicon based capacitors.
but this is why the tech (which is in switch carts, 3ds carts, ssds, sd cards, usb keys)
need tiny sips of electricity constantly, to feed those capacitors which can last for quite a while but
