so, considering all the things in play i've decided that i'm gonna stay here in Madeira for another 6 months
i've also just kinda realised that i can get an actual phone now, both of my existing ones (one 4 years old the other 2) have swollen batteries probably because in both cases i let them sit somewhere hot and stay plugged in constantly
so i'm going to instead just charge it like normal, but it's a blackview BV4800 that is coming, and it's got a 5000mAh battery in it, and with all radios turned off and only powering an ethernet adapter it should run for a week without charging if it literally only functions as my bank terminal, or possibly, i can tweak it so it only charges to like 80% full, and then trickles to that target after that, this should ensure it never overcharges and starts the hydrogen generation problem that both of my other phones have got... either way, eithernet and unplugged, or ethernet with power as well, it's no radio, it's my bank, and that's all it fucking does. good.
then i can re-deploy my little thumb-sized mini 2g dumbphone that has no features except calls and sms, that's fine with me... it will last a long time on a charge also and is no hassle to carry around so i don't miss important delivery notifications and whatnot as the case may be, without having to have a full blown high powered radio and internet connection and bristling with sensors
the reason why i'm gonna stay on another 6 months is the weather... it's not until about may that it gets nice here and then all the fireworks bullshit starts up and that would be a good cue to leave, and gives me more time to organise my planned migration to the highlands of the midwest USA, plus with the election about to drop probably gives all the bullshit time to settle before i get on the road... i hope that i can just fly straight into the airport of the state i want to go to also, and not get stuck in some nasty blue state where everyone is completely fucking fascist blues
so, i'll probably start up negotiations about this, and fuck it, i'll open up a bank account at the local bank, maybe there will be options for me to sell my bitcoin to local people and be able to do it via portuguese interbank transfers instead of EU/US based SWIFT
i get nervous about the possibility of not being able to access my sats for spending locally... the bank has still as of last time i heard been unable to reissue visa/mc cards, and these bastid things can fail and then what?
plus i really haven't made that much effort to get in contact with the bitcoiners mostly based in funchal across the other side of the island, simply because it's a pain to travel there... but perhaps there is even a way for me to sell my sats for cold hard cash... maybe finally there is a bitcoin ATM over there now, that would be a reason i could handle for going over there and pulling a month's expenses in one go, pay my rent in person as a bank deposit to my landlady's account and literally stop using the xapo bank
i don't plan on being caught out without this and the banksters keep on making it clear that they are gonna fuck around, so i'm gonna make sure they find out, or more exactly, know nothing henceforth, if it really gets problematic
