I think it is wishful thinking because "chems in the water" offer an easy explanation and solution to the problem, when I think it is much more complex than that. But who knows. If we look at many ancient societies, for example, homosexual behavior, especially in a pederastic form, used to be much more common and widespread than it has been up to now. They weren't exposed to the chems in the water we are. Also for example, gay men have been masculinized by our culture up until now in comparison with our ancestral environment
