Did you try the last release/map data update? It has many addresses missing in OSM, taken from the TIGER database. No magic, house number + street (in any order) + town/city should work. The zip/postal code should work if it's present in OSM (rare case) or for the US and UK (taken from TIGER and Ordinance Survey data).
