what we need to solve the homelessness crisis: abolish the housing trade lobby. reestablish the department of housing and urban development. establish hard price caps that slash the cost of housing so much it both potentially bankrupts entities currently hording houses as investment property *and* actually makes houses something that can conceivably be owned by actual people who may *live in the houses*. ratify all possible tenency rights and make eviction practically impossible. trustbust/break up the banks and nationalize real estate. poison the "housing as investment" industry with extremely, punishingly, literally unsustainably high taxes and fees on house trades for all private entities owning more than *one* house simultaneously, *anywhere in the world*, to the point where a business or wealthy individual owning five houses at the same time can cost *billions* in taxes, forcing them to sell off and not hord houses as trade property. establish low/no interest backed bonds for people buying a home. raise the minimum wage by at least 700% so that people can afford to buy things like homes (would still require the price caps as well). make "renting" illegal and/or drag "landlords" into the public square and beat them with sacks of oranges (okay maybe we don't strictly need to use oranges...)
democrats: i hear you! we'll fund yet more construction of "affordable housing" (which will get snapped up by banks as fresh investment property and possibly moulder without ever having a living being dwell within it, yet more gold for the dragon horde. "affordable housing" is ultimately a gift for the banks and will not relieve the crisis. it's almost entirely useless)
