I used to think this. I then realised that I needed some way to protect myself from the effects of the sunk cost fallacy. That’s a brutal life lesson to learn if your focus is too narrow. For sure there is some wisdom tucked into that bit of advice but I have made it a habit to remind my kids that walking away and leaving some things unfinished, in certain circumstances, is better than keeping your word. That can be a win for both parties. Cheers.
