- Push on custodial solutions as a "reality of the space" based on River metrics of self-custody and on-chain TXs
Do self-custody options not have the UX you want? Build it.
At this point in time, a Bitcoin wallet that only does on-chain TXs is DEAD-SIMPLE to use. You have TWO buttons - A SEND and a RECEIVE button.
We're crossed the line between lack of friction in self-custody, and pushing custodial for user-dependency.
- Dual-currency push with Bitcoin + $
Bitcoin, cannot be "married" to fiat. Fiat is intrinsically the antithesis of Bitcoin. They CANNOT work together without MAJOR consequences to the users and the businesses. We've already started seeing this with KYC data breaches, and that's just one example. People's ENTIRE financial track history becomes exposed because of these businesses.
I still wonder, to this day, how someone had the brilliant idea of:
"Bitcoin for the first time allows for self-custody, true sovereignty. Perfect! Let's make a Bank!"
Seriously, how do these people go to sleep at night knowing full well what they're setting up their users for in the future, just as we've seen in the fiat world when your offload RESPONSIBILITY to a third-party instead of EDUCATING the user.
