It doesn’t *have* to be slow to deploy. When France decarbonized their entire grid in the 70s using a fleet of nuclear plants, they standardized on one design. The first one took a while to build but the subsequent ones went much faster because they’d worked out all the kinks from the first one. And it took them only a decade to totally decarbonize their grid this way.
