The hatred of women comes first, the choice of ideology to hang that hatred on comes second, in my experience.
Which doesn't mean that religion is irrelevant - some ideologies lend themselves much more efficiently to defending misogyny than others (in fact, one might even say the ideology in question is built round defending misogyny). And always remember, trans rights is a form of secular religion - its adherents believe in the existence of souls which can be "gendered", and in the transmigration of these souls (especially "feminine souls" in male bodies).
After all, extreme trainspotters and extreme pigeon fanciers don't seem to be prone to misogynistic excesses.
