If there's nothing underneath it, then there's no reason for any single phenomenon to cohere with any other phenomenon, or for them to even exist in the same time-space, or for a time-space to exist at all.
Patterns are real things, so they have to be accounted for in whatever their origin is, and you'd have a very hard time not getting back to a monotheistic God from that.
