One of the best reasons to use #ZFS snapshots on my time machine backup is that once every couple years, Apple corrupts it. So I can go back to a previous snapshot where it was good, and use that. Just recovered my backup this way. Once it's done, I'll need to do the promote and rename to replace the old, corrupted backup.
