As someone who has watched a LOT of TV, I feel the need to point out that this is NOT what it looks like š

My husband is actually digging a hole so he can work on the van standing up.
Living on dirt makes this quite easy... in theory. However, the ground is actually REALLY solid and the walls can be dug straight down and it doesn't fall in, like it does in soil.
He's hoping to get the depest part to be about 6 feet deep, but figured that it might go faster by building up mounds on the sides to use as ramps.
In conclusion, we'll probably spend the whole weekend at home, trying to keep out of the above 90f degree weather, while somehow also digging a hole outside, so we can flush the transmission and hopefully get functionality back soon.
Tomorrow is my birthday, and I kinda wanted to spend it at home, but not quite under these circumstances š
