Democrats were appalled by the debates: Republicans overjoyed. Biden lost the debate. Losing the debate was be very bad for Biden's chances.
The idea that Americans don't care if a prospective President comes off as old, feeble and low-energy if he has a good VP candidate because he can just die - why would you think that? What evidence or reasoning do you have to support that?
