That overlaps with an idea I've had... I've been wanting to combine red light therapy with a hyperbaric oxygen therapy tank. Might as well go even further and make it sensory deprivation and sound waves.

I think you're on to something with the fiery baptism - that symbolism is preserved in tarot, and the history of tarot leaves little doubt that there are people actively preserving the ancient secrets, IMO. Baptism is also done very differently now than in the past, even the recent past. They used to take 6 strong men and hold the person under water while they panicked and thought they were drowning. Sometimes they did drown. That experience was supposed to grant a peek into the other world. I can imagine that if that was done after some kind of preparation, such as meditation and chanting and burning incense, which might affect the movement of male energy (the father) up the spine, that could be a profound experience and effectively make them a different person... Born again.
Here are the three tarot cards that I think are most directly applicable to this process... Which I'm pretty sure is the process of becoming a Christ. Not **_the_** Christ, but one... "KRST" is the word from Egyptian - the Greeks got it from them.
Pretty self explanatory, IMO - ego or trickster on the left, Christ in the middle, and the unveiling/death/awakening on the right. The process is union of male and female energies.
When i got these cards, i also got the book "Seventy Eight Degrees of Wisdom" by Rachel Pollack - very good explanations, and I'm planning on reading it again soon. I recommend it for tarot, but it might leave some of the deeper questions unanswered.
