Charging for expertise and not for time is one of the hardest lessons autodidact professionals have to learn, and many still haven’t, even late in their careers.
The hardest thing about it is knowing when to say “no” to work that the client is trying to get others to undercut you on.
If you don’t value my expertise, then I don’t value your custom. This is the reason I charge for even the first engagement session.
