Last boost, where JCS added USB ports to his Thinkpad (https://jcs.org/2024/05/29/x1usb), is both beautiful in the "this is real hacking, y'all" kinda way, and disgusting, in the "fuck PC manufacturers for thinking they should have any right to control how end users use hardware that they paid over one thousand US dollars for" kinda way.
(obviously if it's some corporate/government issued machine arguments can be made, but for anything sold to ordinary consumers, fuck you, Lenovo, for M.2 allow-lists).
