Had an interesting experience today.
Daughter’s Macbook Air had a problem with the battery and it needs replacement. Took it to a local computer store for battery replacement. The shop floor service people informed me that they had the battery in stock and it’d take them 2-3 days to replace the battery and I’d have to leave the laptop for 2-3 days with them and quoted a price of about 200 NZD. I asked them if it were possible for them to do that over the weekend or if I were to bring the laptop and waited, if they would be able to replace the battery the same day.
They said they would do that if I paid an “urgency fee” of 80 NZD (this looks like a policy of the shop rather than the technicians were quoting whatever they wanted).
What is a fair price to pay, even for urgency? Or is there none?
