it simply builds the foundation. Like I said in your rant. Smart college students will get involved in open source projects cause it greatly builds there resumes. You also learn a lot from it. Though if you don't do projects after learning the foundation. You will never get good at coding. It's just a way for me to start with a foundation then build on it. I would also recommend others do the same.
