The ancient Greeks held objects in the sky orbited the Earth. They observed some of them moved in a wandering fashion, going forwards then backwards, so they were called "asters planetai" or "wandering stars" and that's where we get the modern English word "planet."

But the Earth (and more) orbits the Sun and the planets don't "wander" nor are they "stars." So should we not call them "planets" any more?

Use the same logic that made Pluto not a "planet" in your reply.
