I don’t think the intent was ever to make #X a free speech friendly social network but rather to bring back the censored communities who were leaving the platform in drove. I think they were pretty successful with that. Even if as much censorship is still occurring on X as before, the general perception is that it’s better under #ElonMusk. The social engineers don’t care to create consensus as long as they maintain the perception of consensus.
