the UMN bookstore--which is one of the last major university campus bookstores that isn't outsourced to one of like three companies--always ask for your campus ID card when checking out.

So they can save your purchase history for you. Every time.

Buying a bottle of coke? ID Card.

Buying a poncho for tomorrow's football game? ID Card.

Buying a Goldy Gopher snuggie? ID Card.

Buying a copy of Erich Fromm's *To Have or To Be*? Yep, ID card.

obviously pretty much everywhere else is already creating a history of your purchases online, at least. but it's infuriating the way they sometimes will insist on this for even the most minor purchases. Like, I instinctively take my ID card out of my lanyard card holder whenever I go in there now because I "left it in my office."

And we don't even get an employee discount!!
