Thing is, is there really anyone who fully unpacks their baggage? They’re just there, unencumbered one day? No goes through life unscathed. Even when you actively do the work to unpack, you’ll think you’ve emptied the baggage and you discover a pocket you missed or realize something you thought you wanted to keep no longer fits or is outdated, inefficient, no longer useful. We add new things we didn’t even realize ended up in there until we feel the weight of them holding us back. We have to examine the contents of our baggage, even if we think we’ve unpacked everything. You never know what you’ll find. Even when you lighten your load, pack everything back in more efficiently, it’s an adjustment when you start walking around with it again. We get used to our heavy loads even though they’re breaking our back. The lighter load is weird and uncomfortable, even as it’s more comfortable … we readjust. That’s where I’m at. Hope that makes sense outside my own brain.
