What is your great purpose? The one that’s bigger than you. Focus on that today.

I just completed The Life of Greece by Will Durant in his series The Story of Civilization. I think myself not to be Greek, nor do I think my genes carry their mark. But I cannot say the same of my mind. As Durant completes a summary in his epilogue of the impacts of Greek culture over the centuries, I cannot help but recognize the persisting impact of their views of the world, functions of their minds, their appreciation of beauty and form, and their employment and enjoyment of the senses. Even many of our religious and political structures come from the roots set by the Greeks.
