"content": "Italian painter Lavinia Fontana was born #OTD in 1552.\n\nShe is best known for her successful portraiture, but also worked in the genres of mythology and religious painting. She is regarded as the first female career artist in Western Europe, as she relied on commissions for her income. Over 100 works by Fontana are documented, but only 32 signed and dated works are known today. \n\nhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lavinia_Fontana#\n\n#art #painting\nhttps://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/113/016/298/644/820/605/original/6b29bbfdd86784ec.jpg\n",
