Well at the end, Wolverine told lover boy that he needs to leave because he skipped parole and if anyone found out he was Johnny then it would bring shame upon homegirl. So I guess he didn't want to turn himself in, he just wanted to make himself scarce. Stay on the DL until dying peacefully but alone.
